Mulungushi University Opens 2027 Planning, Budget and Procurement Workshop
Mulungushi University has commenced a three-day workshop for the preparation of the 2027 Operational Plan, Budget and Procurement Plan.
Opening the workshop today, 28th September 2026, at Twalumba Resort, Mulungushi University Vice-Chancellor, Amb. Prof. Royson M. Mukwena, emphasised the need to align planning, budgeting and procurement to ensure that the University’s strategic priorities are effectively translated into programmes, resources and measurable results.
The workshop brings together Senior Members of Management, Deans, Directors and Heads of Departments to collectively review priorities and develop realistic and implementable plans for the coming year
He further stressed that the 2027 Operational Plan should be guided by the University’s 2024–2028 Strategic Plan and the outcomes of its Mid-Term Review, with greater focus on strengthening implementation.
The Vice-Chancellor also called for improved procurement planning, urging schools and departments to anticipate their requirements and initiate procurement processes early for effective planning, prudent resource utilisation, timely procurement and improved institutional performance.
During the opening session, he announced that the University Council has approved the splitting of the School of Engineering and Technology into the School of Engineering and the School of Computing. Council also approved the establishment of the Department of Pharmacy and the Department of Public Health under the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, as well as the remodeling of the Unit of Online and Open Distance Learning.
The workshop is expected to conclude with realistic, well-costed and implementable plans aimed at strengthening institutional performance and advancing Mulungushi University’s vision of becoming “A leading, innovative, and reputable University.”
