Mulungushi University Signs Agreement to Establish Africa’s First AI Confucius Institute

Mulungushi University is pleased to announce that on 9th June 2026, the University signed an Agreement for the establishment of the AI Confucius Institute. The Institute will be housed at Mulungushi University.

This is the first AI Confucius Institute to be established in Africa, positioning Mulungushi University at the forefront of international cooperation in language, culture, artificial intelligence, and innovation.

The signing ceremony took place in Beijing, China, at the headquarters of the Chinese International Education Foundation.

The Agreement was signed by Mr. Zhao Lingshan, Vice President/Secretary General of the Chinese International Education Foundation; Ambassador Professor Royson Mukwena, Vice Chancellor of Mulungushi University; and Professor Wei Lu, President of Communication University of Zhejiang.

Among those in attendance were Mr. Gubula Siaciti, Registrar of Mulungushi University; Dr. Brian Halubanza, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology; and Mr. Andy Liu, Co-Director of the Zambia Belt and Road Innovation Cooperation Centre.

This milestone reinforces Mulungushi University’s commitment to pursuing the frontiers of knowledge through global partnerships, innovation, and transformative education.
