Career Profile

Currently a PhD candidate at the University of Lusaka undertaking research titled “The Dynamics of Land Tenure Systems in Improving Agricultural Productivity: Evidence from Maize Producers in Choma District, Zambia”. Obtained an M.Phil in Development Studies at the University of Cape Town in 2010, with a thesis titled, “Access to Housing: Do Young People move smoothly from parental accommodation to independent housing in Cape Town?”. For the Honours BSc Degree in Development Studies (Hons), the research project was titled: “An Ethnographic Study of Gendered Access to Housing in Zambia”. Completed a B.A. Degree in Development Studies at the University of Zambia. 

With more than 20 years’ experience as a Researcher, Lecturer and Consultant in housing and land administration, governance, and management research. Joined the labour market in 2003 as a Lecturer/Consultant/Researcher at the National Institute of Public Administration. Have spent 15 years in the academia and at least 7 years in development work with non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

He has conducted research on housing and land tenure systems and in other related areas. Specialized in teaching courses in Poverty Studies; Housing, Land and Environmental Issues in the Third World; Introduction to Development Studies; Science, Technology and Development in Less Developed Countries; Introduction to Research; Data Analysis and Computer Applications; and Project Management. Within the development work, worked as a National Coordinator under the Zambia Land Alliance implementing a project on strengthening land tenure systems in Zambia. Also as Knowledge Action Researcher under WorldFish, and as Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at World Aid. Have devoted some considerable time on research and consultancy work with international organisations such as UNIDO, UNEP, UNICEF and the European Union (EU) supported projects such as the Zambia National Land Audit.
